Why should I use WhyGoSolo?

WhyGoSolo is perfect for all the things you love to do but you don't have the right person to do the activities with. WhyGoSolo is splendid for those occasions when you're on the road traveling, left behind by your friends, stuck with cancelled plans or just relocated to a new area. WhyGoSolo is also ideal for those moments when you feel spontaneous and find yourself with an afternoon or day off or you want to try something new and meet someone new.

Is WhyGoSolo a dating site?

No, WhyGoSolo is NOT a dating site. Can two people meet on WhyGoSolo and end up romantically involved... sure, but that's not the purpose behind WhyGoSolo.

Is WhyGoSolo an Online Community?

Technically we have many of same features of many online communities however, we call WhyGoSolo a solution—the solution for getting you out and about socializing and networking in real life. The solution to meeting new people or connecting with your friends. The solution to adding benefits and ease in doing the things you love and discovering new things. Why are all the Categories Rated PG?

WhyGoSolo is Rated PG site. No funny business here... go somewhere else for that. WhyGoSolo is for non-sexually related socializing and networking.

I'm 16 years old, why can't I join?

You have to be 18 years or older to join WhyGoSolo. WhyGoSolo is for making offline connections and we want to ensure we serve an adult community that has a professional and mature mindset. There's too much going on in our world today to have minors interacting offline with adults.

The Coaching Corner is your place as a member to ask questions and get answers from professional Coaches in a variety of areas to help make better use of WhyGoSolo.

What are the different privacy levels?

You have 3 privacy options under settings: 1) public, 2) friends, or 3) Users (members) Only.
Public: Public status allows everyone and anyone who visits WhyGoSolo.com and starts browsing to see your profile, listings and related information.
Users Only: Means that only members of WhyGoSolo can see your profile, listing and related information.
Friends: Allows only your friends see your profile, listings and all related information.

Why isn't there a Private privacy level?

Not being able to see your profile, listing or related information by anyone but yourself would make being on WhyGoSolo pointless.

What are the search options?

Currently you can only search for other members to add as friends - future releases will include features for other aspects.

WhyGoSolo is free. You can sign-up, create your profile, post listings and take part in the Handshake Process at no cost.

What's the upgrade all about?

WhyGoSolo is a sister site to Tickets with a Twist and when you upgrade through WhyGoSolo you not only get a cool button on your profile but you'll also get access to premium ticket draws on Tickets with a Twist

What's a Handshake Request?

A Handshake Request is what you initiate when you find a listing/person you are interested in joining for the activity they listed. When you initiate a Handshake, the person whose listing you selected receives a private message letting them you are interested in joining them. They can pass or accept your request. A Handshake Request isn't completed until all parties confirm they are going and acknowledge the other person is going.

Do I have to add a comment when I pass or accept a Handshake Request?

No it's not necessary to add a comment. However, we recommend you do if you need more information, have a slight change to the listing to relay, or have a specific reason you wish to communicate for passing or accepting.

Can I change the information to a Planned Listing?

No, once the plans are set, you can't change the Listing itself. If the plans change or there is an emergency, contact the person directly via the site or other means as quickly as possible.

What happens if I break a Handshake after it was completed?

Breaking a Handshake after you are completed it will result in a change in your Flake-Out Score.

What's the Flake-Out Score?

Your Flake-Out Score is based on your history of breaking Handshake requests or not showing up when you had Planned Listing. Your Flake-Out Score shows others if you are reliable or not.

What's does the expiration on the Community Listings?

The expiration is for listings that are not time sensitive. For example if you are looking for someone to go to Happy Hour with you... you probably don't mind if they show up 15 minutes after you do. However, I you go are going to the Opera—you'll mind a great deal. The expiration date impact when the listing will expire and be taken off the Community Board. The expiration date will be more relevant in our next phase...

What do the statuses of the Community Listings mean?

Open: An open listing means that you haven't Handshaked with anyone and it's open for people to initiate a Handshake.
Planned: A planned listing means you have completed the Handshake request and all parties involved are aware of upcoming event.
Completed: A completed listing is one that has been successfully carried out.

Can more than one person initiate a Handshake Request on an Open Listing?

Yes, when a listing is still opened (not planned) there is no limit to how many people can initiate a Handshake Request for it.

Can I change the information to a Planned Listing?

No, not right now. You can private message the person you Handshaked with and let them know what changes or updates you have. We will address this situation in the next release.

What should I do if the person doesn't show up for a Planned Listing?

Contact us at flakeout@whygosolo.com with the title of the listing and the person's display name that you Handshaked with so that we can verify and adjust their Flake-Out Score.

I don't see my city listed on the Community Board... How do I get it listed?

If you don't see a city you think we should have on WhyGoSolo, submit an email to support@whygosolo.com with the city to be added along with its state. At this time, the United States and Canada are our priority.

I don't see the Category or Sub-Category I'm looking for—What should I do?

If you don't see a Category you think we should have on WhyGoSolo, submit an email to support@whygosolo.com with your recommendation for the Category to be added.

If you don't see the sub-category you are looking for then please post your listing under “Other” and email us at support@whygosolo.com with your recommendation for a new/missing sub-category.

Who Can create a Group?

Anyone but Groups have to be first approved by an Administrator prior to being visible on the site. We want to make sure we don't end up with offensive or inappropriate groups or the same exact multiple groups.
